Oceana Turns Five - Gimme Five!

My beloved second granddaughter, Oceana Elle-Helène Cervantes, has just turned five!

Before the day is done, my dear,
I really wanna greetcha -
and yearly send you Birthday cheer -
I'd surely love ta meetcha.

The Guiding Spirit which in my ear
did whisper that you Are -
although I had to bend to hear -
our heartbeats were not far.

It's like our faith in God, my dear -
you may not have "some evidence" -
yet even as HIs Word we hear,
so also I've your documents.

And this is reason sure to celebrate you -
Happy Birthday, my Oceana -
because you Are, and I Am too,
therefore we're One. And you are five.

When I Hear Your Name

As the sound of a spring current comes to my ear upon your sister's name,

breaking the wintry silence imposed on us in shame –

my joy toward Levi River-Winter now with sister in double

in having births both framed to see, and worth ev'ry bit the trouble.

Oceana now also in my ear true

and furthermore some hint in Hebrew:

as Elle-Helene appears like el-chalon or el-aleinu –

reminding that "God-is-Window" and "...with-us" too.

Through just such a window I did find you two,

for by that Grace was I granted to view;

my darlings make two – and you've just turned one –

how my heart soars, now embracing with Oceana: the sun.
